WWW Site Awards & Recognition

The METCAD WWW Page was featured in an article in 9-1-1 Magazine (Jan/Feb 1998) on "Public Safety And The Internet".  Nearly the entire issue was devoted to the how public safety is using the Internet to share information with the public as well as each other.  Please check it out!  METCAD is proud to have been selected as one of the premier 9-1-1 systems with a homepage.  Thanks 9-1-1 Magazine!

The METCAD WWW Page was selected by the Daily Showcase as the "Featured Site" for Emergency Services on September 4, 1997. Here is what the editor had to say about our site...

The first thing that greets you is a GREAT animated logo for this agency's site. There's a link to "Silicon Prairie" to provide information about Champaign County itself, links to NENA and APCO and the three telephone companies serving the county, Motorola and even the local law enforcement database, ALERTS.

There's an information page JUST about METCAD's history, an EXCELLENT page of FAQs designed to inform the public about the 9-1-1 procedures, some statistics, a non-emergency telephone number list, information for Scanner enthusiasts (which includes "their" 10-codes and phonetic alphabet in addition to radio frequencies), and a feature I always look for at an agency site such as this: Telecommunicator of the Year!!!!

The site also lists links to user agency home pages, and a few other Public Safety agencies, as well.

The webmaster did a good job with this site, and METCAD can be proud of its contribution to the Internet!"
